Groveland is a city in Lake County, Florida. The population was 8, 729 at the 2010 census. Interestingly, between 2000 and 2010, Groveland’s population increased by 189%, making this town the fastest growing place in Florida.
As of the 2000 census, there were 7, 901 people, 845 households and total numbers of 626 families residing in this great city. The population density was 897 inhabitants per square mile. There were also 921 housing units at an average density of 350.1 per square mile. The racial make-up of Groveland was 68.81% white, 22.42-22.43% African American, 0.76% Native American and 0.55% Asian people. Hispanic of any race were 14.70% of the total population.
In addition, there were 845 households out of which 35.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.15% were married couples living together, 12.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% were non- family. There was also a percentage of all householders were made up of individuals and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age. The average household size was 2.79% and the average family size was 3.23%.
